Dear Navajo Nation
Employees: We are saddened to announce the passing of Mr. David F. Shortey, Jr., who passed away on Wednesday, January 18,
2006. He managed the Navajo Nation Risk Management Department and was a
great advocate of Navajo custom and tradition. Many of you knew Dave in his
role as Risk Manager for the Navajo Nation. Dave was
responsible for securing property and casualty insurance to protect the
Navajo Nation and it's Enterprises. He took
his job very seriously and cared about the Navajo Nation, it's people and enterprises. As part of his job,
Dave was responsible for buying insurance policies for the Nation.
Dave made sure the policies were customized and tailored specifically for
the needs of the Nation and it's Enterprises.
Dave put his heart and soul into everything he did. You have heard the
saying, "you can't be all things to all people," well Dave was
all things to all people. Apart from his job, he was a family
man. Dave loved his family first and foremost, Rose, his wife, Tracie
and Miranda, his daughters and his two sons Robert and Michael.
Dave also volunteered his time helping in his community and at his
children's schools. He was a good friend to many and will be missed
by us all.
